Starting to plan late is a common pitfall that many businesses experience. Depending on your type of internet service, the activation to install can take a minimum of 90 days. It is vital for work continuity that a new internet service is ordered as soon as you have your new location’s address; do not move the existing service.
✅Check Your Inventory
Go through the devices in your space to gain an understanding of the actual size of your move. While looking at your devices, evaluate the condition they’re in. You can lighten your move by e-wasting old or broken equipment. This is also a great time to get an idea of any items or upgrades your new office may need.
✅Walkthrough the New Site
With your IT team, walk the space to envision where the ideal areas are for workstations, printers, etc. They will help you identify any potential gaps, such as the amount of cabling needed, the number and placements of outlets, and proper ventilation. It is important, for example, to make sure your server is in an area where it is kept secure and cool.
✅Protect Your Data
Data loss can have crucial consequences for your business. Find some peace of mind by ensuring a full recovery is possible if equipment becomes damaged during the moving process. Make sure all of your company’s data systems are backed up, including the configuration data of firewalls and data stored on servers.
✅Communicate with your Staff
Update employees via email, team meetings, and other internal communication methods to ensure they are aware of the moving plan. Inform them of any potential downtime so they can plan work adjustments accordingly.
